Yoga for a Cause: SAAM Vin + Yin Friday, APRIL 19, 6:30PM
April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Join Samantha & Mary for a special evening dedicated to raising awareness about sexual assault and violence in the community and across the nation. On average, one in five women will experience sexual violence in their lifetime. Help us spread awareness by learning more about SA facts and how we, as a community, can #changetheconversation.
Vin + Yin is designed to help balance energy and quiet the mind. Class will start with a dynamic vinyasa yoga sequence, linking breath to movement to harness energy and warm the body. The second portion will be dedicated to a gentle yin practice, holding poses for longer periods of time, allowing the mind to create a calm, meditative effect. This class will specifically be dedicated to the theme of building community, harnessing strength, and exploring the internal voice of advocacy. Continue through the evening after movement by connecting with like-minded people and mingling throughout the studio as we enjoy treats and refreshments.
And that's not all! In honor of Sexual Assault Awareness Month, a portion of the proceeds collected for this event will be donated to the local rape crisis and domestic violence shelter, Safe Haven. Wear Teal to this event and an extra bonus will be given to this incredible cause!
$15 preregistered; $20 on the day

Drumming creates an avenue for emotional release, creative expression, self-discovery, mental clarity, social awareness, communication, inspiration, and relaxation. As part of UH Samaritan’s music therapy for community wellness program, join us for an evening of revitalization utilizing the rhythmic energy created by group drumming. Learn how to use drumming techniques to renew mental, physical and emotional health; reducing stress, increasing energy, and lifting mood. No music or drumming experience required. All instruments used for the workshop will be provided. (You may also bring your own drum). This program is courtesy of The Samaritan Foundation and UH Connor Integrative Health Network.
