Let it Fall

“Let it all fall down.”

This is the prayer that has been at the cusp of my consciousness. Sometimes on the edge of my lips, hissed between my teeth.

Let it crumble.

Everything that needs to shatter, may it shatter. May it fall.

I see it, we feel it, the dismantling of anything, of everything, all the structures and systems we believed to be unshakable. With hands open, and a little bit quivering, I say, “Let it fall.”

We cannot cling to life we once knew. We are not going back to the way it used to be. Right now we feel ourselves grasping, trying to hold any semblance of same. But we’re grasping at wind, at water, at sand to try and keep control of that which was only an illusion of control to begin with. It is futile. The only way through this now is by going through. With the loosening of this white knuckled grip at perceived control, I say, let it fall.

I’ve heard whispers, wonderings if this world is coming to an end. I believe it is. This IS the end. The end of an age. The end of an era, of a season, a time, a way of being. This tension we feel is in the resistance to allowing what is to come.

This is an end, but it is also a beginning.

The fear and trepidation we feel comes from change, transition, in the loss of much of what we once knew. But what we also feel is the groanings of a coming birth. The birth of a new day. This was a word given to me almost exactly one year ago.

A new day is coming.”

A new day is dawning, it is nearly here. Will we usher it in or will we resist and cling and turn away?

Like a woman in labor, bearing down, leaning in, knowing something is about to be born, with tears and fear and sweat and anticipation, let us seek knowledge and wisdom on what is coming forth.

Her name is Sophia.

She is the wild one and also the one who gathers each of us under her wing. The one of creation, of wisdom, and most importantly, the one of unity. She draws together the corners of the earth and shows us how we are more alike than we are different. She draws together the recesses of our spirits, turns us inside out and inward to find the treasure of infinite love that resides in the mess of our humanity and the perfection of our divinity. She is here to help us remember exactly who we are.

This is what she wants to teach us.

We are created beings, born from immaculate love. We forgot we are more than just bodies living for today, we are eternal souls. We exist here to experience the diverse beauty of this world and to participate in its redemption.

Yet...

We’ve lost our way and forgotten.
The only way to remember is to let it fall.
To break apart old patterns that keep us separate, small, and shallow.
This falling apart is meant for us to fall back together.
The crumbling of what has been comfortable in order to die to and dismantle disconnection.

It is time to open hands and reconnect.
To shatter and recalibrate.
The invitation is to sink under the surface, to see what fractured as a result of our clinging.
Loosen the grip, let’s let it slip.
Drip a tear and relinquish the fear.
The new day lies ahead.
See it, feel it, taste it, bring it.
Let it fall, and let the embodiment of love be what rises like the dawn bringing hope back to life.
May it reach the ends of the earth, giving worth to the lowest and the highest, the richest and the poorest, the angels and the animals, all will be remembered for what we are.

Sacred.

Loved.

Worthy.

So, let it all fall down.

May only that which is sacred and unshakeable remain.
